If you're looking for a top to match your flamenco skirt, this is the right section. Here you'll find the most typical flamenco tops, such as:
Flamenco leotard/bodysuit: In our opinion, the best option for your flamenco wardrobe. They are similar to one-piece swimsuits and fit each woman's body perfectly if the correct size is chosen. With this garment, you won't risk it shifting or riding up while dancing, as the leotard's perfect fit makes it feel like a second skin. For classes or daily training, we recommend a leotard with straps or short sleeves, as long sleeves are generally too hot. The only drawback is that it takes a little longer to put on and take off than a t-shirt.
Flamenco T-shirts: These are frequently chosen for their ease of use. T-shirts tend to be quite cool and have a looser fit than a leotard/bodysuit (which are very tight-fitting). They are a good option for everyday wear, but if it's for daily work, we recommend choosing short-sleeved or sleeveless T-shirts to avoid sweating and for greater comfort. However, for performances, we recommend a garment with long sleeves due to the elegance that sleeves often bring to the stage. The only slightly less favorable aspect of this garment is that some flamenco dancers don't like the feeling that when they raise their arms, the garment rides up or shifts out of place. If you are in this group, we definitely recommend a leotard/bodysuit.
Flamenco jackets: In terms of cut, they are similar to a flamenco jacket. The main difference is that they are usually tied at the front with the same fabric (since buttons are impractical for dancewear). These jackets are mostly used as an additional layer to the top part of a flamenco outfit, especially when wearing something simple like a slip or a basic t-shirt. The jackets add elegance.
At TAMARA Flamenco, we only use specialized fabrics for dancewear, guaranteeing you a quality garment tailored to your needs. But if you have any doubts about which type of fabric to choose, here is a brief summary of the qualities of our most commonly used fabrics in our flamenco tops, bodysuits, and leotards.
- Polyamide: This lightweight, cool, and highly breathable fabric offers excellent value for money. That's why many of our basic garments are made with it. This fabric is very durable and, thanks to its elasticity, adapts perfectly to the body if the correct size is chosen.
- Viscose: This fabric is more elastic and lighter than polyamide. After polyamide, it's our best-selling fabric due to its comfort and soft feel. It adapts well to the body, and being a thin fabric, it's very pleasant to dance in.
Lycra: The best quality of this fabric (if it's genuine) is its exceptional elasticity and durability, which is why it's so widely used in high-quality cycling jerseys. If you like very form-fitting garments, this could be a good option.
At TAMARA Flamenca, we only use registered trademark Lycra. This means it's genuine Lycra. Many stores sell their garments as Lycra when in reality they are just imitation fabrics that lose elasticity and properties much faster than they should. To ensure you are buying genuine Lycra (which guarantees high quality and maximum durability), make sure it has a label with the brand name sewn into the garment or attached to the outside.
