THE FLAMENCO DRESS. WHAT IS YOUR STYLE?

THE FLAMENCO DRESS. WHAT IS YOUR STYLE?

Would you like to go to the feria but you don’t know what type of flamenco dress to wear? Would you like to know which flamenco dress is more suited to your personality and figure? In this post, we show you the main types of flamenco dresses that you can see in flamenco fashion.

Types of flamenco dresses

Nowadays, there are many models of dresses because flamenco fashion has been developing a lot using new fabrics (laces, plumeti…), colours, shapes, and designs. The full body dress is the most used but also, there are two pieces dress (bodice and skirt). A good dress must perfectly be adapted to the measures of each woman in order to enhance her figure and curves. As a general rule, the most popular types of flamenco dresses are three:

  •          Classic flounces dress

It is the classical model par excellent and it has a lot of flounces which give movement and cheerfulness to the dress. The number of flounces depends on our preferences but it is usually wearing two or three at least. Flounces makes the dress looks beautiful when the woman is walking and dancing. Nowadays there is a new version of this style with a cut below the chest to be able to use 2 differents colors or fabrics. From TAMARA FLAMENCO we think that is a brilliant idea to enhance the bust and also the woman looks very stylized.

  •          Traditional “Canastero” dress

This type of dress is characterized by being one whole body to more or less the height of the knee and from there begins its only flounce, which, unlike the previous dress, is dropped and does not provide much flying. This type of flamenca dress is usually much more comfortable to wear and brings much elegance to the woman.

  •          “Semicanastero” dress

Semicanasteros dresses are a type of costume of flamenca intermediate between the two described above and we have 2 types.

The first type is a flamenco design of one piece as the Canastero dress, unlike the traditional Canastero dress, is a similar flounce to the classic flounce dress but this flounce is long, light and without volume as the flounce of the sevillana habitual dress. This design is ideal if you want something more novel away from the 2 most traditional flamenco dresses.

The second type of Flamenco design in semicanasteros dresses, is the design with two flounces. This flamenco pattern consists of a costume of flamenco canastero habitual but with a big and long flounce added that surrounds all the dress. It is a perfect model for women who do not decide between the traditional canastero dress or the classic flounce dress. The fabrics used for this kind of dress, also tend to be light and fresh that is the best option to feel comfortable in the fair.
